Project Marketing Coordinator (freelance)
The Pit Orchestra are seeking a Marketing Coordinator to spread the word about the performance of their original score which will accompany a screening of Eisenstein’s 1925 film Battleship Potemkin in December 2025.
Overview
December 2025 marks the centenary of the release of Battleship Potemkin, Eisenstein’s best known film. The Pit Orchestra were commissioned to write a score for this film in 2017, and are now revisiting that score for 2025. This project has been funded by Arts Council England.
Starting in September 2025, the primary aims of this marketing role are to:
bring diverse audiences to the performance and create a buzz around the event
attract national media coverage both for this event and for The Pit Orchestra’s decade of work with amateur and non-musicians
amplify TPO’s presence online

Candidate specification
You will need to:
Be able to work predominantly under your own supervision, as well as with TPO members when required
Be able to attend occasional online meetings (or travel to Plymouth) in order to facilitate collaboration
Be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role (or relevant transferable skills)
Be able to call on your current press contacts, or be able to make these connections, in order to expand TPO's visibility nationwide
Be experienced with social media scheduling
Be able to create coherent and cohesive content which tells a story and increases the reach of TPO
Have your own laptop and place to work
Be responsible for your own tax and NI contributions
Fee
The fee for this role is £1,200 (based on approximately £200 per day for 6 days, paid by monthly invoice). There may be periods when you work less than 0.5 days per week, and periods when you work more - this is up to you, based on how you wish to conduct the marketing and how you fit this role around your other work. The fee includes:
The creation and delivery of a marketing plan which raises the profile of TPO and creates excitement around the event
Any travel expenses needed in order to work with us
Occasional attendance at meetings with project producers
Advising on TPO’s own social media schedule

Orchestra rehearsals - Aug-Nov 2025
Studio recording - Mid Nov 2025
Performance - Early Dec 2025

NB: All other members of the team are freelance/voluntary, and therefore not necessarily working on this project during standard office hours. Our meetings tend to be on Thursday evenings, when we catch up with progress and assign tasks for the next week.
